What I hope to Learn in Film Studies

I am really interested in learning how to edit video footage I take. I've never used any video editing software or movie making tools before, and I am excited to learn how to do that. It would be really helpful to even get a basic knowledge of film making. I'm also hoping to learn how to critique films based off more than just if I liked the plot or not. I really want to expand my knowledge of film terminology and subtleties.
